This house was built in the early 70’s. The owners bought the home from her grandparents, they had never really finished the home, and it definitely looked like it was from the 70’s, right down to the rust shag carpet.
Originally, the kitchen was in a closed in area that was tucked under a loft. The kitchen was actually a good size for the time it was built. The clients found the original receipt for the ‘custom kitchen cabinets, laminate flooring, countertops and laminate backsplash’. All for the great price of just about $800, oh and that was installed also. We can hardly purchase one custom cabinet for that now.
The loft was unusable as the ceiling height was to low. We removed the loft, opened the walls so the kitchen, dining and living room are all one large space, and reworked the design to fit this family's needs.
