Why You Should Start Planning your Remodel Today

Since many of us have spent more time in our homes than ever before over the past year, we have a new appreciation for what does and doesn’t work in our home. If you’ve been thinking of remodeling your home, it’s wise to give our office a call to schedule your first appointment!

Recently Houzz conducted a survey that measures residential renovation market expectations, project backlogs, and business activity. We found the information to be accurate for our region and wanted to share if here for you, as well as some helpful advice from us. We encourage you to view the original article here.

1. Wait times to start a new project are rising.
The average wait time to begin a midsize project rose to 9.3 weeks. That is about a month (3.9 weeks) longer than the same period last year! If you know you are ready to start a project in your home, we suggest you begin the process today. Your timeline is now everyone else’s timeline and most contractors in our area are booking well in the Fall of 2021. If you want an experienced and trustworthy contractor working in your home, our advice is don’t wait, give us a call today to schedule your initial appointment.

2. Wait times for design services are the higher than ever.
Similarly, demand for design services are also on the rise. Since we are a full-service, design-build remodeling company we felt it was important to share that the average wait time to begin the design process is 8.4 weeks. This is the longest wait time recorded for design services since the launch of the Houzz Barometer in 2014!

Good design takes time and great design takes even more. Start compiling your inspiration images now so you have a clear vision of your “after”. Be sure to share your dream board with your contractor as well as your “hard pass” board. It’s helpful for us to know what you love and what you don’t!If you have dreams of renovating your home this year, we suggest you hammer out (pun intended) your budget and start the process now. If you have no idea what your budget should be we suggest looking at the Cost vs Value, and keep in mind your project may be drastically different than the area average. There are many factors that make the cost of a home renovation – including project scope, room size, and cost of selected materials to name a few. Each project cost is different and unique just like each home we work in is unique.
