Steps to Make Your Home Specktacular

Our Process

From the time you contact us until after your home is completed, this is what you can expect to happen:

1. Initial contact made by client to Specktacular Home Remodeling (SHR).
During this time, basic information is taken including your contact information, home address, type of project, the age of your home and whether or not you have established a budget. If you have established a budget or budget range, we will ask for it at this time. If you are unsure about how much to budget for your project, view the Cost vs. Value Report by Remodeling Magazine.
Are you afraid to share your budget? See why sharing your budget is important.

2. An appointment at your home to conduct a mutual interview. Remodeling is a big undertaking and we both want to make sure we will be a good fit throughout the process. This initial consultation is complimentary.

3. Once the interview is complete, the initial scope of work and the budget or budget range has been established, it will be time to make a decision to either move forward together or explore other options. If moving forward, we will enter into either a design/professional services agreement, a design/build agreement, or sign a letter of intent to place your project into our production schedule.
Small projects comprised of a total cost less than $2,000.00 or 2 days to complete typically do not require additional design and specification fees. The necessary details will be obtained during the initial on-site interview and a firm price quotation will be provided.
Most “Refresh” and “Revive” projects typically require one to four hours of design and product selection time at an investment cost of $75.00 per hour.
Projects more complex require additional time to design and specify. How much more depends on the size and scope of the project as well as the amount of time you are willing to help pick out the materials to be used. For example, a full kitchen with new cabinetry, counters, flooring, lighting and layout may take 10-20 hours to complete at an investment cost of $750 – $1,500.
It should also be noted that in the long run, a project is typically less expensive when a thorough design and specification process has been completed. A well designed project is also more likely to finish on time and on budget.

4. Upon the completion of the design and specification process, we will work with you to establish a realistic production schedule.
Schedules can be coordinated to start or finish by a pre-agreed date. You deserve to know what is going on in your home and on what days.
We will provide a written, remodeling timeline for projects longer than three days and a verbal timeline for projects less than three days.

5. Throughout your project we will communicate with you. This is your home and we want you to be informed and involved throughout the process. Even if you have a busy schedule, we will work together to find the best ways to communicate with you.
On projects scheduled to take longer than one week, we will have weekly production meetings at your home to review the progress and explain the work to take place over the coming week.

6. Most of our trade contractors are part of our remodeling “family” and have worked with us for over 5 years.
Any tasks not completed directly by SHR staff will be accomplished by our trusted trade and specialty contractors. They will treat you and your home with respect.
As the senior project consultant, Mitch is at your home every day, throughout the project, to make sure everything is completed according to plan.

7. As the project nears completion, we will complete an initial “walk-though” with you to answer any questions regarding how something works or how a particular aspect of the project is going to be completed. On projects scheduled to take longer than one month, this meeting usually takes place about one week prior to completion. On smaller projects, this may occur 1-3 days prior to completion.

8. Upon completion, we will give you all owner’s manuals and documentation related to the products installed in your home. We will also complete a final walk-through to make sure you are satisfied with your remodeling project.

9. We will remain only a phone call or email away. Just because we are finished working at your home does not mean we are finished. Our commitment to you includes being there for you whenever you have questions about the completed project and when you are ready to remodel another area in your home. We have been here for our clients over the last 20 years and we are committed to be here for at least 20 more.
